NRM1 BQ: NRM1 focuses on the measurement and estimating of construction works. It provides rules and guidance for the preparation of elemental cost estimates, which break down the cost of a project into various elements such as substructure, superstructure, finishes, etc. NRM1 also covers the measurement and quantification of construction works, including the use of measurement units, bill of quantities, and cost analysis.

This type of estimate can also be used as a benchmark for comparing construction quotes.

NRM2: NRM2 deals with the detailed measurement and estimating of building works. It provides rules and guidance for the measurement of quantities and the preparation of bills of quantities. NRM2 emphasizes the importance of accurate measurement and detailed description of construction works to facilitate competitive tendering and cost control. It covers various aspects such as taking-off, definition of measurement rules, presentation of bills of quantities, and pricing of items.

SMM7 (Standard Method of Measurement of Building Works 7th Edition) is a widely recognized standard used in the construction industry, primarily in the United Kingdom. It provides a systematic method for measuring and quantifying building works, enabling consistency and accuracy in cost estimation and project management.

SMM7 estimates are cost estimates that are based on the principles and guidelines outlined in the SMM7 document. These estimates typically include detailed itemized lists of materials, labor, and other resources required for a construction project. SMM7 estimates are commonly used by quantity surveyors and other professionals involved in the construction industry to assess the costs of various elements within a project.
